Origin Talent Agency (Pty) Ltd · Last updated October 2026
This notice explains how Origin Talent Agency (Pty) Ltd ("Origin Talent", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 ("POPIA").
1. Who we are
Origin Talent is a domestic and household staffing recruitment agency based in Johannesburg, South Africa. We act as the responsible party for the personal information described in this notice.
Information Officer: Roger Donaldson. Contact: roger@origintalent.co.za · +27 10 502 0105 · First Floor, Dainfern Square, Cnr Winnie Mandela & Broadacres Drive, Dainfern, Johannesburg, 2191.
2. What we collect
From clients: your name, company or household name, email address, mobile and alternative phone numbers, preferred contact method, address, and the details of the role you need — employment type, live-in or live-out arrangement, hours, urgency, salary or budget, driving requirements, languages, days needed, duties and any notes you provide.
From candidates: your name, date of birth, identity number, nationality, address and province, mobile number, email address, next-of-kin name and number, the role you are applying for, position type, driver's licence and transport status, availability, skills, qualifications, languages, legal right to work, and your confirmations of screening consent, declaration and POPIA consent.
3. Why we collect it
We use this information to assess and respond to enquiries, to screen and verify candidates, to match candidates to client requirements, to arrange interviews and placements, to administer the 4-month replacement guarantee, and to keep records of our engagements.
We rely on your consent and on the performance of our agreement with you, together with our legitimate interest in operating a recruitment agency.
4. Who we share it with
This is the core of what a staffing agency does: to place a candidate we must present their relevant details to prospective client households. Where you are a candidate, we share the personal information necessary for a client to assess your suitability — including your name, work history, skills, qualifications, languages, availability and screening outcomes — with prospective clients.
We do not sell personal information. We may share it with service providers who help us operate (for example, secure cloud hosting and email providers), and with professional advisers where necessary. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
5. Cross-border processing
Some of our service providers store data outside South Africa — including Google, which hosts the documents and spreadsheets we work with. Where information is transferred across borders, we take reasonable steps to ensure it receives a comparable level of protection.
6. How long we keep it
Where an application does not result in a placement, we keep the information for up to 12 months, after which it is deleted or de-identified. Where a placement is made, we keep the information for the duration of the placement agreement and for any period afterwards required by law.
7. Your rights under POPIA
You have the right to be told whether we hold personal information about you, to request access to it, to request that it be corrected or deleted, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, contact our Information Officer at roger@origintalent.co.za.
If you believe we have not handled your information lawfully, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, damage, unauthorised access and disclosure. Access to candidate and client records is limited to those who need it to perform their role.
9. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.
